MAALOX student print campaign 2010

For this campaign we fancied ourselves quite the creative melting pot and came up with not one but two full-fledged campaigns for Maalox - a stomach antacid. How glamorous.

 Copywriter: Charn Neethling
Art director: Inoba Siwundla

Campaign 1: No food fools Maalox.

Campaign 2: You don't have to change what you eat.

SHIELD student print 2010

OK, not exactly award-winning art direction and certainly not my proudest moment as a copywriter - agreed! But hey, we were students and the idea's quite charming, don't you think?

First Ascent student print campaign 2010

This campaign was the brain baby of myself, Dominique Swiegers (copywriter), and Anne-Rika Giliomee (Art Director). Needless to say working with another copywriter for the first time was an eye-opening experience and quite a challenge, but you soon learn to let go a little.

Life is Lollapaloosa 2010

Lollapaloosa means "something that is outstanding, exceeding expectations and simply wonderful."

For this student project we were asked to rebrand and relaunch the Grand Daddy Cafe - from name right through to interior and advertising. Through our research we came across a growing overseas trend: mood food, or rather good mood food. Foods that have proven effects on your mood. So it came that our restaurant, Lollapaloosa (a feel-good word if ever there was one), grew from this trend into a feel-good restaurant where everything is designed with one purpose in mind: To make the customer happy!

SCENE:     Inside top secret spy headquarters.

MV1:         (spy general; briefing agent) OK, listen closely Agent T-O-M. This is a top secret brief.
A swarm of savage space prawns are rapidly approaching planet earth as we speak.
We believe they are planning to take over the premix muffin industry. You are our only
                  hope. Any weapons in mind?

MV2:        (British spy; nonchalant) I’m not exactly sure, sir.

MV2:        The radio-active hamsters perhaps?

MV1:        (matter-of-fact) Eaten I’m afraid.

MV2:        And the toxic wax crayons?

MV1:        Not toxic enough for space prawns, sir.

MV2:        Hmm...

MV1:        But not to worry, General, I had pickled fish for lunch.

MV2:        (pleased) Good thinking, Agent! That should do some serious damage!
                 You are good to go.

ANNCR:    There are times when bad breath can come in handy.
For all the other times there’s Clorets – the fresh breath experts.
